Dr. Besigye Shakes Mbarara

The FDC rally in Mbarara town, Boma grounds ended peacefully this evening.  The rally which was addressed by FDC President Kizza Besigye, was also attended by his wife Winnie Byanyima and father in law, DP stalwart Mzee Byanyima who said he supports FDC even though he is a member of DP.                                                            Thousands of FDC supporters at Boma grounds in Mbarara.                           

Kizza Besigye castigated the NRM government for the rampant corruption that goes unpunished, singling out the Global Fund scandal that had benefited government officials instead of buying

He also lambasted the government for sending the army to the Democratic Republic of Congo to illegally exploit natural resources and to loot. He explained that as a consequence of the crimes committed by a few army officers in the Congo, generations of Ugandans would continue to live in abject poverty as the government paid reparations for those crimes.   He called on the people to vote for FDC in order to get rid of the irresponsible NRM-O government. 

The rally was also addressed by Odo Tayebwa, FDC- Parliamentary aspirant for Igara West, Hon. Maj. (rtd) John Kazoora - FDC Parliamentary aspirant for Kashari, Richard Kaijuka Former MP for Sheema, and the hostess Mary Frances Semambo, FDC Chairperson for Mbarara District.

Dr. Kizza Besigye has addressed rallies in Kabuyanda and Kaberebere Town Centers in Mbarara Districts and is now headed to address a mammoth rally at Boma Grounds Mbarara town.  The crowd at Boma grounds is estimated to be  at 15,000 - 20,000 people.

Mbarara town has closed and all roads lead to Boma. The rally is peaceful and supporters are blowing whistles and hooting in anticipation.  Nick Kashaija FDC Candidate for MP Mbarara municipality has addressed the rally.
